In sixth grade I found some books by Robert Heinlein and quickly went on a quest to find and read every one of them I could. While not as prolific as Asimov, he did write a lot but the series that really grabbed my attention were the books that were rereleased with the covers by Gene Szafran. Eye catching and utterly distinctive the 13 covers were released between 1971 and 1974.
Unfortunately the best information about Gene Szafran was found at a site called Glimmer Graphics, but this site was last active on Jan of 2021. Pending the site ever seeing the light of day again, I'll use the Wayback machine to grab some information to put here. On the site were the best images of the covers I could find anywhere.
"Gene produced over 125 paperback covers for various publishers including Bantam Books and New American Library. Â His work appeared on books by Robert A. Heinlein, Robert Silverberg, Ray Bradbury, Poul Anderson and many others. Silverberg's 'The Second Trip' cover is a sculpture. He also did work for many magazines, including Boy's Life, Cosmopolitan, Fortune, McCall's, Penthouse and Playboy." - Glimmer Graphics
